Life Legacy

June Hansen Dickens, age 93, passed away December 28, 2012. She was born June 16, 1919 in Fielding, Utah, to Ariel and Gertrude Hansen.

After graduating from Bear River High School in 1937, June moved to Los Angeles where she met her husband, Alvin T. Dickens. They worked together in real estate, purchasing, building, and operating motels and other properties. Over the years, they resided in Hollywood, Burbank, and El Segundo with their five children.

Though she did not receive a college degree, June took classes and became expert in several areas. She was an avid reader and possessed numerous skills. She received a Certificate in Counseling, and her listening ear provided support to many.

In retirement, June took up photography as a hobby, creating a visual record of her travels throughout the United States, Canada, Europe, and the Middle East. After moving to Davis in 1989, she became a member of Woodland Camera Club. Her stunning nature photos won awards, including a Best of Show at the California State Fair.

June delighted in her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter, Dee Ann Dickens, and grandson, Sam Emerson, one brother (Earl Hansen) and two sisters (Alta Schaack and Adele Frisbey). Surviving are sister Delores Barrett and brother Farrel (Peggy) Hansen, along with children Terry (Vicky) Dickens, Nadine (Kent) Pinkerton, Karen Emerson, and Bruce (Joanne) Dickens, as well as 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She has been an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

A visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. followed by funeral services at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 4, 2013, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 785 Elmwood Street, Davis. Interment will be at Inglewood Park Cemetery, Inglewood, CA.
